HYANNIS – Gas prices in the Bay State dropped six cents in the past week.
AAA Northeast’s weekly survey shows the average price of a gallon of self-serve, regular in Massachusetts is $2.50.
The price is 32 cents higher than the same time last year but three cents lower than the national average.
According to GasBuddy.com, prices on the Cape are between $2.39 and $2.74.
AAA Northeast’s Director of Public and Legislative Affairs Mary Maguire said the downturn in prices looks to be a result of quicker refinery maintenance turnarounds and an increase in U.S. crude oil inventories and production.
