HYANNIS – Massachusetts gas prices are up a penny of the past week.
AAA Northeast’s weekly survey finds a gallon of self-serve, regular unleaded is selling for an average of $2.70.
That price is nine cents lower than the national average and 13 cents lower than at this time last year.
“Gas prices over the last week increased for the majority of motorists east of the Mississippi,” said Mary Maguire, Director of Public and Legislative Affairs for AAA Northeast. “More expensive crude oil prices, robust demand, and decreasing gasoline supply all contributed to the higher prices.”
Hurricane Barry appears to have had little impact on average prices across the country.
According to gasbuddy.com, prices on Cape Cod are between $2.65 and $2.99.
