Gas Prices Up Again This Week

HYANNIS – Gas prices continue to go up across the region.

According to the weekly survey from AAA Northeast, a gallon of self-serve regular unleaded is averaging $2.69 a gallon.

That’s eight cents higher than last week and two cents higher at the same time last year.

The Massachusetts price is 15 cents lower than the national average.

According to gasbuddy.com, prices on the Cape range from $2.63 to $2.85 a gallon.

“Monday morning crude oil was trending higher on reports that the U.S. State Department plans to end the use of waivers for countries to import oil from Iran in an attempt to end all oil exports from that country,” said Mary Maguire, Director of Public and Legislative Affairs.

“Decreases in Iranian exports could tighten supply in the global market, though that could be balanced by increased U.S. production.”
