HYANNIS – Two GoFundMe accounts have been established to help the Falmouth police officers shot last month while responding to a disturbance.

Officers Don DeMiranda and Ryan Moore were injured in the shoot-out on Ashley Drive.

DeMiranda was shot in the chest, but the bullet was stopped by his vest. A second round hit him in the shoulder area. He had surgery last week to remove the bullet.

Moore was struck in the neck area causing a grazing wound.

The man accused of shooting them, Malik Koval, was shot as the officers defended themselves. He’s recovering in a Boston hospital.

He was arraigned last week and is being held without bail pending a dangerousness hearing.

Koval is charged with disturbing the peace, two counts of assault to murder, two counts of assault and battery on a police officer, two counts of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and carrying a firearm without a license.

Two others are also charged with interfering with officers as they arrived.

Marcus Maseda, 18, and Kimberly Koval, 38, allegedly tried to interfere with the officer’s efforts as they followed the shooting suspect into a home.

Both are charged with obstruction of justice, assault and battery on a police officer and interfering with the duties of a police officer.
