BARNSTABLE, Mass. (AP) — A Cape Cod man has pleaded not guilty to murder and kidnapping charges in the death of a woman whose body was found at a rest area last fall.

30-year-old Tyrone Gomes of Hyannis entered the plea Wednesday in Barnstable.

Gomes and two others were recently indicted in the stabbing and shooting death of 28-year-old Christine Ferreira. Her body was found Sept. 19 on the eastbound section of Route 6. Authorities say the Hyannis woman was killed in retaliation for testifying against another alleged gang member.

Authorities say Gomes rented a room in West Yarmouth where he allegedly met with Ferreira before luring her to the rest stop where she was killed.

Gomes is due back in court on Sept. 9.
