HYANNIS – Republican U.S. Senate candidate Geoff Diehl campaigned on Cape Cod Friday, announcing a new coalition of supporters and taking a political swipe at Sen. Elizabeth Warren.
“Today we are officially launching Cape Codders for Diehl. We are receiving tremendous support on the Cape, because people know that they will have their voice heard when I am elected,” said Diehl.
He took aim at Warren’s many trips outside the state in recent months.
“Last year, Elizabeth Warren was in the State of Georgia more than she was on Cape Cod. This weekend she’s actually in another port city, not Hyannis, she is in New Orleans to speak at a progressive convention,” said Diehl.
He made the announcement about the Cape coalition at Aselton Park in Hyannis with several supporters on hand.
“I’ve been talking to people here on the Cape for months about why I want to work for them as their next U.S. senator,” he said.
Diehl is running against fellow Republicans John Kingston and Beth Lindstrom for their party’s nomination.
While on Cape Cod Friday, Diehl also met with fishermen in Chatham to talk about their concerns.
“In 2014, we defeated well-funded special interest groups to stop automatic gas tax hikes by running a grassroots campaign that talked directly with voters. That’s why we are so glad to announce this growing coalition,” said Diehl.
“Geoff Diehl is the candidate I trust to fight for Cape Cod issues. Geoff supports the efforts of Law Enforcement Officers and is committed to putting public safety first. Cape Cod has been ignored long enough. I am with Diehl,” said Rick Gleason of Yarmouth.
