Governor’s Emergency Response to Opioid Crisis Talk Set for This Week

FALMOUTH – As part of the on-going effort to reduce the growing substance abuse epidemic here on Cape Cod, a meeting featuring Massachusetts legislators will take place at the Falmouth Arts Center this week.

Governor Charlie Baker and Lieutenant Karyn Polito will be joined by local police, fire, hospital, Gosnold, and Sheriff Department officials to discuss prioritizing prevention in families, schools, and communities; opioid outreach intervention services; the benefits of Narcan; and recovery support systems.

The discussion will also focus on the proliferation of fentanyl and the need to treat co-occurring disorders of addictive disease, and mental health issues.

Finally, participants will analyze how current state policies are working and where improvements can be made.

Talks get underway at the Falmouth Arts Center Headquarters on August 16th from 10am to 11:30am at 137 Gifford Street in Falmouth.
