SOUTH WELLFLEET – Grace Chapel Church in South Wellfleet is holding a food drive on Saturday to benefit shell fishermen affected by the recent norovirus.

The event is being held from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. and the church will be accepting non-perishable food items and bread.

The state closed all shellfish beds in Wellfleet Harbor following an outbreak of the norovirus earlier this month.

The Massachusetts Department of Public Health issued the ban after receiving reports of around 75 suspected cases of norovirus.

All were primarily associated with eating raw shellfish at weddings and restaurants in the Outer Cape area.

Food donations can be dropped off at the Church’s location at 25 Lieutenant Island Rd. in South Wellfleet.
