Grants Awarded By Arts Foundation of Cape Cod

HYANNIS – Twenty-four local arts and culture projects have received grants from the Arts Foundation of Cape Cod.  The total amount distributed increased almost $8,000 from last year.

Julie Wake, the AFCC’s Executive Director, is quick to give credit.

“Our supporters, we call them patrons, have really stepped up and helped us with a lot of fund raising initiatives this year, so we were able to increase the funding because of them,” she said.

The number of artists, organizations and businesses that received grants increased from 18 to 24, with 13 of the requests being fully-funded.  Many of them incorporate the arts into bringing people together and as a healing tool.

Wake is looking forward to the results.  “We’re really excited about kicking off another year and looking at how what we just funded makes an impact with some of the programs that are happening,” she said.

After applications were received, a panel consisting of board members, patrons and community members reviewed them.  The funds were distributed earlier this month.
