Great White Spotted at Nauset Public Beach

ORLEANS – Nauset public beach was closed this morning after reports of shark activity.

According to the Atlantic white shark conservancy’s sharktivity app, a great white shark was seen by the spotter plane at the beach.

The shark was reported to be 60 yards offshore in front of the main lifeguard stand, traveling north.

The beach was closed to swimming between 10:15 and 11:15 a.m.

The water was re-opened to swimming after no sightings of the shark were reported within the hour.
