ORLEANS – GUAPO’s in Orleans is holding a fundraiser for Sam Long, the 15 year old Wellfleet boy who is awaiting a heart transplant.
On Saturday from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m., the public is invited to attend the event, to raise money for the Long family through prize drawings, a silent auction and donations at the door.
A former student at Nauset Regional High School, Long was diagnosed with cardiomyopathy last March and is one of around 120 teens in the country waiting for a heart transplant.
Long is continuing his high school coursework through Connections Academy, which allows him to study at home or in the hospital.
He plans to return to high school and graduate with his class when ready.
Funds raised at the event will help cover the family’s mounting medical bills.
A $5 donation at the door will include appetizers and a margarita sample.
