Guided Walk to Explore Outer Cape Storms, Shipwrecks

EASTHAM – A guided walk will be held next month to explore the coastal storms, historic shipwrecks and rescues along the Outer Beach of Cape Cod.

The walk on November 2 between Nauset Light Beach and Coast Guard Beach in Eastham is led by historian and author Don Wilding.

The program is cosponsored by the Harwich Conservation Trust and Eastham Conservation Foundation.

Guests will travel across more than three centuries of Outer Cape shipwrecks from the Sparrow Hawk on Nauset Beach in 1626 to the Eldia in 1984.

Wilding, the author of “Henry Beston’s Cape Cod” and “A Brief History of Eastham,” will discuss the North Atlantic storms and the wrecks in their wake including the Castagna, the Francis, the Montclair, the Jason, the Portland, and many more.
