BOSTON – The Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court has affirmed the guilty verdict and sentence of a Hyannis killer.
In July of 2012, 28 year old Andrew Stanley was beaten, shot killed in a home on Otis Road in Hyannis.
After what was described as an exhaustive investigation, a Jury in 2016 found Steven M. Weber guilty of first degree murder, armed robbery and home invasion, Weber was then sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole.
On appeal, Webster challenged the sufficiency of the evidence, the relevance of the tire impression evidence that was introduced, the admissibility of certain cell phone evidence and that the trial judge should have instructed the jury on consciousness of guilt.
In a 19 page decision the Supreme Court rejected all of Webster’s challenges finding that all the evidence was relevant and properly admitted thereby providing sufficient evidence to find the defendant guilty. The court also found that the trial judge’s instructions were appropriate.
Two other men also pleaded guilty to charges in the case.
