Habitat for Humanity Begins Search for New Executive Director

YARMOUTH – Habitat for Humanity of Cape Cod will commence a search for a new executive director next month.

The news comes after current Executive Director Victoria Goldsmith announced her intentions to retire at the end of this year.

“I’ve been with Habitat for the last 20 years and that full 20 years has been a period of expansion and growth and having more and more community impact, now building between 8 and 12 homes a year,” said Goldsmith.

“We now get such big responses when we have the opportunity for home ownership, we have a wonderful partnership program working with families, we have such wonderful volunteers, I think the organization is strong and I feel like it’s a great time for me to leave and have someone else pick up from here.”

At the time Goldsmith was hired, Habitat was finishing completion on its 18th home, at the end of this year Habitat will reach a milestone of 150 homes throughout Cape Cod & The Islands.

Through the effort of numerous volunteers, Habitat for Humanity is able to provide affordable homes to local families each year.

“Now it’s much rarer for us to do a single home on a single lot, it’s much more common for us to do sub divisions of two, three, four, five, seven homes and of course this year we will be finishing off a 14 house sub division in the town of Brewster,” Goldsmith said.

Habitat for Humanity of Cape Cod was founded in 1988 and has developed 135 affordable homes in all 15 towns on the Cape.
