Habitat Honors Volunteers at Annual Meeting

YARMOUTH PORT – More than 40 volunteers were honored last week at Habitat for Humanity of Cape Cod’s annual meeting in West Dennis.

Awards of recognition were presented to 40 individuals who have volunteered 10, 15, 20 and 25 plus years of service to the organization.

Five special awards were also presented:

  • Cape Cod Foundation:  Habitat Community Partner Award
    • The Cape Cod Foundation has contributed greatly to the success of both ReStore locations, the solar energy program and numerous fundraising events.
  • Bob Burke of Falmouth, Capital Realty & Development:  Habitat Business Golden Hammer Award
    • This award is given to a local business in recognition of exceptional contributions that further Habitat’s work in building simple, decent, affordable homes for local families.
  • Joe O’Toole of Eastham:  ReStore Excellence in Volunteering Award
    • Joe is a core volunteer with the Yarmouth ReStore, and has been since its inception in 2011 always sharing his great sense of humor, knowledge and talents.
  • Bob Harding of Yarmouth:  Everett Stoyle Spirit of Service Award
    • For many years, Bob is always a friendly and welcoming presence at Habitat’s construction sites and is a tirelessly enthusiastic ambassador for Habitat Cape Cod.
  • Vicki Goldsmith of Harwich:  Donald S. Dickinson Legacy Award
    • Vicki has navigated the tremendous growth and success of Habitat for the past twenty years and was honored for her passionate and fearless leadership.  Vicki is retiring at the end of 2019.

Goldsmith was also recognized for 20 years of leadership and service to help provide safe, decent and affordable housing on Cape Cod with a proclamation from State Representatives Sarah Peake (D-Provincetown), Tim Whelan (R-Brewster), and State Senator Julian Cyr (D-Truro).

Habitat for Humanity of Cape Cod was founded in 1988 and has developed 141 affordable homes across all 15 Cape Cod communities.
