HYANNIS – Walter Phinney has been named as Housing Assistance Corporation’s (HAC) Chief Operating Officer (COO).
The South Dennis resident previously served as COO of three regional healthcare agencies.
His first day in the new position was on Monday.
Phinney was previously the COO of Arbour Counseling Services, which runs mental health and addiction centers.
“I’ve known about their reputation and was excited that they were interested in talking to me and even more excited that they asked me to join the team at such an important time in the history of the organization,” said Phinney.
Phinney has over 20 years of executive experience in organizational management, with expertise in business development, implementing quality improvement and compliance programs, and staff training and development.
Prior to his position at Arbour, Phinney was COO at Outer Cape Health Services in Wellfleet, and was with Whittier Street Health Center in Roxbury, first as VP of Programs and Business Development, and then as COO.
Phinney replaces Michael Sweeney, who will retire in October.
“This organization has a number of remarkable services that we want to make sure everybody knows about,” said Phinney.
