Harwich Bar Faces Liquor and Entertainment License Suspension

gavelHARWICH – Repeated incidents at one local bar will result in the loss of its entertainment and liquor license for the upcoming holiday weekend.

After a rowdy summer, selectmen in Harwich recently decided to implement a four-day suspension on the license of the Claddagh Inn and Irish Pub.

Police responded to 22 incident at the pub this summer, four times the amount of calls that police got about all other bars in town combined.

“We end up trying to work with the owners and what have you to keep their business in line,” said Harwich Police Chief William Mason, ‘in this particular case, those efforts did not work and that’s why we had to go to the next step.”

Mason said they responded to various complaints this summer, including noise, assault, and fireworks.
