Harwich Church to hold Prayer Service for Law Enforcement on Sunday

Candle In the Dark

HARWICH – In light of the recent police shootings in Dallas, Texas and Baton Rouge, Louisiana, the pastors of Harwich are holding a prayer service on Sunday.

The service will be held at 5 p.m. at Christ Church Episcopal on Rt. 28 in Harwich Port.

“The service is going to include prayers, some scriptures, some good hymns and we will be lighting a candle in memory of all those officers who have died within the last couple of months,” said prayer service organizer Rev. Tiffany Nicely Holleck.

Members of the community are invited to attend and show their support for local law enforcement.

Five Dallas Police officers were killed in a shooting on July 7 and three officers in Baton Rouge were killed in another shooting on July 17.

Holleck said that now is the best time to show support for the police.

“As we sat down to plan the service, we listened to the news and heard of yet another shooting, and said this is definitely high time that we come together to show support,” said Holleck.
