HARWICH – The Harwich Conservation Trust is back this spring to kick off the 3-Walk Series: Spring Thaw.
Through three separately scheduled walks throughout the towns of Harwich, Brewster and Dennis, learn about the history of the Cape.
Join 12th generation Cape Codder Todd Kelley and native Wampanoag and Nipmuc Marcus Hendricks for a fascinating series of interpretive walks exploring the history of Cape Cod from the First People and early European settlers to the nature of Cape Cod today.
The engaging three walk series follows a progressive storyline about human settlement near freshwater sources and coastal water embayments.
The first walk, on Saturday, April 6 in Harwich, will cover the fluid glacial origins and shaping of Cape Cod through 6,000 years of First People settlements along the Herring River valley. The walk will consider the lives of those who inhabited the land as early as 9,000 years ago to the first European encounters in 1524.
Participants can join the series of walks after paying a $45 fee. If participants join all three walks it is only a one-time $45 fee.
The series is sponsored by the HCT, the Brewster Conservation Trust, and Dennis Conservation Trust.
