Harwich Conservation Trust to Hold Series of Nature Talks

HARWICH – The cold and snow are upon us, but during January and February, the Harwich Conservation Trust will be holding a series of Cape Cod and area-themed nature talks that are sure to get you out of the house.

The talks will be hosted by experts with extensive knowledge and insight on the selected topics, which include: Terns of Cape Cod; History of the Cape Cod National Seashore; Whale disentanglement on the high seas; Tracking snowy owls; Life of the North American river otter; and the Cold Brook eco-restoration project.

The suggested donation to take part is $5, and the talks will take place at the Harwich Community Center on selected Saturday and will begin at 2 p.m.

The calendar for these discussions are as follows:

  • Saturday, January 7, 2 p.m. Terns of Cape Cod: Birds of Paradox
  • Saturday, January 14, 2 p.m. History of the Cape Cod National Seashore: 55 Years and County for a Cape Cod Treasure
  • Saturday, January 28, 2 p.m. Whale Disentanglement: First Responders Save Lives
  • Saturday, February 4, 2 p.m. Tracking Snowy Owls at Boston’s Logan Airport: Wildlife Research Takes Flight
  • Saturday, February 11, 2 p.m. The Life of the North American River Otter
  • Saturday, February 25, 2 p.m. Eco-Restoration: Transforming Retired Bogs
