Harwich Conservation Trust to Host Native American-Focused Walk

EASTHAM – Have you ever wondered about the history of First Encounter Beach in Eastham?

It was site of the first meeting between the Pilgrims and the Native Americas, but there’s more, and the Harwich Conservation Trust is inviting you to come learn about it.

The organization will hosting a series of guided walks featuring 12^th generation Cape Codder Todd Kelley and native Wampanoag Marcus Hendricks.

The program will explore the lives of the first people local to this area and the circumstances that led to their first encounter with the Pilgrims.

Through the three sessions, participants will learn about additional interactions and the consequences of the meeting, including King Phillip’s War in 1675.
