HARWICH – The Harwich Conservation Trust is partnering with the town for a Coastsweep cleanup Saturday.

Volunteers will meet at 9:30 a.m. at the Harwich Community Center for the annual cleanup along Nantucket Sound and Pleasant Bay.

To register to volunteer, email [email protected].

A registration confirmation email will be sent that includes directions.

Volunteers are asked to wear sturdy shoes/hiking boats and gloves, and to bring water.

The cleanup will run from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. rain or shine.

Last year, more than 40 volunteers helped clean the shores during the town’s Coastsweep cleanup.

Coastsweep is the state’s annual coastal cleanup program and is organized by the Massachusetts Office of Coastal Zone Management and the Urban Harbors Institute at the University of Massachusetts Boston.

More than 3,200 volunteers covered over 138 miles of coastline in Massachusetts during Coastsweep events last year and collected more than 14,000 pounds of trash.
