HARWICH – Harwich is now known as “The Warm Side of the Cape,” according to the town’s chamber of commerce.

Chamber Executive Director Jeremy Gingras said that when their new motto and logo were unveiled at the reestablished Hometown Parade last month, people loved it.

“We think it’s a great tagline for Harwich. The welcoming, sunny, friendly aspect of it really helps make the brand come through,” Gingras said.

The motto is a reference, he said, to various aspects of the town, including its position on the southern, Nantucket Sound-side known for warmer waters.

The re-branding process took about 18 months to complete, and will be used to market the town worldwide, Gingras said.

In 2013, the town was ranked as the 2nd “Happiest Seaside Town,” he said.

A new logo was also developed, featuring a tangerine-tango-colored sun with a single cloud suggesting a smile on the sun’s “face” – the color choice was designed to mimic the richness of a sunset, Gingras explained.
