Hazardous Waste Collection Event for Barnstable Residents Saturday

MARSTONS MILLS – A household hazardous waste collection for Barnstable residents is being held this weekend at the Transfer Station in Marstons Mills.

The free collection event is from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday for individuals with a paid household trash sticker or free recycling sticker.

Eligible items for collection include marine materials, fertilizers and pesticides, cleaners and disinfectants, paints, polishes and stains, auto and boat fluids and more.

A full list of eligible materials can be found by clicking here.

Latex paints will not be accepted. They can be disposed of by pouring an equal amount of latex paint over kitty litter, then letting the mix dry out. Then it can be put in the trash.

The collection is one in a series that has taken place this summer, organized by the Cape Cod Extension, which will continue on the second Saturday of each month until October.

For questions about the event, call P.J. Kelliher at 508-420-2258.

More information can also be found about all of the collection events in the county at www.loveyourlocalwater.org.
