MARSTONS MILLS – A Household Hazardous Waste collection will take place Saturday, September 21 for residents and business owners in Barnstable.
The Barnstable Transfer Station at 45 Flint Street in Marstons Mills will serve as the collection site from 9 a.m. to noon.
Toxic materials that can potentially contaminate groundwater, lakes, ponds, and soil in the event of inappropriate disposal and weather emergencies such as hurricanes will be properly discarded.
Anyone who is unsure of what is and is not acceptable for collection should pick up a 2019 HHW brochure. These are available at local town halls, or they can be downloaded from www.loveyourlocalwater.org.
The fee for disposal is based on the type of materials that are collected. If you are interested in disposing of your toxic materials, call Kalliope Chute, the Hazardous Materials Environmental Specialist for Barnstable County and the Cape Cod Cooperative Extension, at 508-375-6699.
