HARWICH – The Harwich Conservation Trust is holding a “Birding for Beginners Workshop” on Sunday, May 26th.
Sponsored by HCT, join Todd Kelley at HCT’s 66-acre Robert F. Smith Cold Brook Preserve in Harwich Port, along a Bluebird Trail of nestboxes that host bluebirds, tree swallows and other songbird species.
Participants will learn how to recognize and identify birds by sight and sound.
They’ll also be able to distinguish telltale field marks such as the size and shape of bill, body size, wing shape, flight patterns and general behavior.
Also they’ll decipher the habitats that particular birds prefer as Todd teaches how to interpret bird tracks and sign.
Enjoy the workshop to learn about some of the birds that forage, shelter and nest on HCT’s largest preserve.
The event runs from 8-10am and is $15 per person.
Attendees are encouraged to bring binoculars and if they have one, to bring a birding field guide too. If not, Todd will have a few on hand.
