HARWICH – The weather is about to keep Cape Cod residents indoors as winter officially arrives this week and the Harwich Conservation Trust is sponsoring a series of interesting conversations.
The 2018 Winter Talks will be held throughout January and February at the Harwich Community Center on select Saturdays.
The series kicks off January 6 with a discussion on the wildlife and cultural highlights of Cuba.
Herbert Raffaele, the author of field guides “Birds of the West Indies” and “Wildlife of the Caribbean” and the retired Chief of the Division of International Conservation for the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service will present a virtual tour of the island’s food, language, history and natural wonders.
On January 13, avid hiker & outdoor enthusiast Mark McGrath will present several ideas for different Outer Cape adventures, including hiking around the perimeter of Cape Cod, sleeping on an island and cross country skiing and hiking the Provincetown Dunes.
The January programs conclude on the 27th with Sharing Nature with Kids.
Peter Trull, a naturalist, author and Lighthouse Charter School Science Teacher, will present a fun program to help students discover wilderness in the fields, woods and wetlands around the Cape.
All programs begin at 2 p.m. and have a suggestion donation of $5.
