Heritage Museums and Gardens Names New Leader

SANDWICH – Heritage Museums & Gardens in Sandwich has announced the appointment of Anne Scott-Putney as its new President & CEO.

In her new role, Scott-Putney will lead Heritage through its 50th Anniversary Year and the opening of the new McGraw Family Garden of the Senses.

She replaces former CEO Ellen Spear, who left the organization last summer for a  new role with the Norman Rockwell Museum in Stockbridge.

Scott-Putney will focus on community engagement and raising contributed support for capital projects that will further enrich the Heritage experience for all visitors.

A veteran development professional with more than two decades of experience, Scott-Putney brings a broad range of skills to the position.

Most recently, she served as Chief Advancement Officer at Rancho Santa Ana Botanic Garden in Claremont, CA, responsible for development, membership, communications, admissions and volunteer programs.

She was involved with gallery shows and exhibit development.

Prior to joining Rancho Santa Ana Botanic Garden, Scott-Putney was a development professional in education and CEO of a charitable foundation.

“I am excited to join the great team of professionals at Heritage Museums & Gardens,” said Scott-Putney.

“Heritage is a treasure for historic Sandwich and for all Cape Cod visitors. I look forward to getting to know our neighbors, to being active in the community, and to creating strong relationships that will carry us forward for the next 50 years.”

She was the Vice President of Sheil & Associates, a communication and marketing firm serving the education and nonprofit sector.

“We are looking forward to working with Anne on a vision and long-term plan for the sustainable growth of the museum, while reflecting the museum’s mission and promoting Heritage Museums & Gardens’ cultural, educational, and horticultural offerings to the broadest possible audience,” said Tracy Isham, Chair, Heritage Museums & Gardens Board of Trustees.

A graduate of Dartmouth College, Scott-Putney also holds an MBA from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and is a Certified Specialist in Planned Giving.
