High Rip Current Risk Remains for Cape & Islands Sunday

HYANNIS – Even though Dorian has passed, a high rip current risk remains in effect for Sunday for Cape Cod and Nantucket beaches.

The National Weather Service has issued the alert through 6 p.m.

The agency says very strong rip currents will be dangerous to anyone who enters the surf and can quickly sweep people away from shore.

Swimmers caught in rip currents are asked to remain calm, call for help and stay afloat without exhausting yourself while waiting for help.

If you need to swim out of a rip current, swim parallel to shore and then back to the beach when possible. Do not swim directly against a rip current.
