High Surf Advisory Extended Through Wednesday Evening

HYANNIS – A high surf advisory has been extended through tomorrow evening for the region as Hurricane Maria continues to travel north just off the East Coast.

Swells from the distant Hurricane Maria will continue to increase resulting in high surf and a risk of dangerous rip currents along exposed coastline.

Maria will continue to weaken into a tropical storm over the next 24 hours before heading out to sea.

North Carolina’s Outer Banks are bracing for the effects of the storm, even though the storm is expected to pass the state at least 150 miles offshore.
