HYANNIS – The Cape Cod Synagogue in Hyannis will welcome two speakers next month for a Holocaust Remembrance Day event.

“Stories of Survival” will be presented by Plymouth residents Barbara Aharoni and Harry Shamir.

Aharoni, a retired medical professional and Jewish educator, will share the experiences of her grandparents, particularly the murder of her paternal grandmother by the Einzatgruppen, a select group of paramilitary death squads in Germany, in 1941.

Shamir will discuss his childhood escape from Nazi-occupied France with his parents.

The event is April 23 at 7 p.m. and will be followed by a reception in the synagogue’s social hall.
