BREWSTER – A program that provides support and treatment for veterans affected by the wounds of war will be present at the Brewster Whitecaps game on Friday night.
Jacque Francona, former wife of ex-Boston Red Sox Manager Terry Francona, will promote her non-profit organization Home Base at the event.
Francona will have a table at the game and members of the organization will throw out the first pitch in an attempt to spread the word about the work they’re doing.
Home Base is the first and largest private sector clinic in the nation, devoted to healing invisible wounds such as PTSD, traumatic brain injury, anxiety and depression to name a few.
“We take care of the service member, their spouses, significant others, children, their parents, siblings, we kind of look at it holistically,” said Francona.
Home Base also offers outpatient clinical care as well as a two week intensive clinical program, making treatment available to veterans and service members around the country.
All treatment and wellness programs are provided at no cost to post-9/11 veterans, service members and their families.
Francona said that the work the program does has made a difference in the lives of those that have sought their care.
“I think it’s been life-changing for many service members, their families and I will say life-saving as well,” said Francona.
The program will also host the 2016 Run to Home Base 9K fundraising run or 2.5 mile walk through Boston on July 23.
