Home, Garden and Lifestyle Show in Hyannis features Over 150 Vendors, Live Music

HYANNIS – The 59th Home and Garden Show is in full swing, and with a new name, to boot.

The newly-dubbed Home, Garden and Lifestyle Show inside Barnstable High School features over 125 exhibitors, from kitchen knives to tree fellers, catboats to bicycles.

Co-Chair of the event Jitka Borowick said it’s the Rotary Club of Hyannis’ biggest fundraiser, one which stirs up the spirit of spring in its attendees.

“There’s not much happening on Cape Cod in the middle of March, so this is an opportunity for us to bring people together,” she said. “Every year it’s been only ‘home and garden,’ but this year, we wanted to make it a whole day.”

Exhibitors include landscapers with dramatic exhibits and many home improvement businesses with tips on how to spruce up the home and landscape.

Other attractions to this year’s show include a crafts area and face painting for kids, as well as a food court. Live music from Sarah Swain and the Oh Boys complemented the programming yesterday. Today, Earth Junior plays until 3 p.m.

Cape Cod Healthcare is conducting a mobile blood drive at the event and anyone donating blood will receive free admission to the show.

Admission to the event is $6 for adults, and free to children under 12.

All proceeds from the event benefit the Rotary Club of Hyannis’s “Good Works Fund”.

Borowick said her goal of raising $100,000 is well on its way to completion.
