FALMOUTH – Walkers are finishing up the last two days of the annual Bob Murray Housing with Love Walk.

Participants began the seven-day walk on Monday in Provincetown and are now headed towards the end in Falmouth tomorrow.

The walk raises money for local organizations combating the region’s housing issues.

Richard Waystack and his wife Bernadette are two of six people walking the entire length of the Cape during the seven-day walk.

He said that raising awareness of homelessness and housing on the Cape is important.

“We got to make people aware of the insecurity that’s there for so many people,” said Waystack. “I’ve said it for years, homelessness and housing and security doesn’t take a vacation here on Cape Cod.”

Since its inception in 1993, the walk has raised over $4.5 million to help local agencies provide housing and prevent homelessness on Cape Cod.

There are nine local agencies that are benefitting from this year’s walk, including CHAMP Homes, Homeless Not Hopeless and Housing Assistance Corporation.

While walking the entire distance of the Cape, Bernadette Waystack said that she never forgets what and who she is walking for.

“I remind myself every step of the way that I’m going home tonight to a safe, secure home of my own, that a lot of people don’t have,” said Waystack.

Saturday’s walk begins at the Joe George Allietta Softball Field in Mashpee and ends at the Falmouth Town Green.

Sunday’s walk is expected to end around 3:30 p.m. at Liam Maguire’s Irish Pub in Falmouth.
