Hundreds Walk in Hyannis in Support of Alzheimer’s Research

HYANNIS – Hundreds turned out last Sunday in Hyannis for the 3rd Annual Alzheimer’s Association Walk to End Alzheimer’s.

The event was part of a nationwide network of walks aimed at raising money to help fight the disease.

At the beginning of the event at Veteran’s Beach, more than $70,000 had already been raised, with more expected in the coming weeks.

Similar events are held in 600 communities nationwide.

Alzheimer’s is the sixth-leading cause of death in the United States and more than 5 million people are living with the disease.

There are an estimated 16 million caregivers of people living with Alzheimer’s and other dementias in the United States.
