Hyannis Artist Shanties Officially Open for 2018 Summertime Season

HYANNIS- The Hyannis HyArts Artist Shanties, now at two locations along Hyannis Harbor, are officially open for the 2018 season.

The town run program provides affordable rental space for Cape Cod artists and artisans to work, and sell at the seaside studios.

Elisa Sullivan, owner of ‘Swirls Shanty’ says that the opportunity to be able to market her handmade jewelry crafts downtown has been great so far.

“It’s wonderful, I’ve been set up to work so that I can get pieces made while I am here while I am selling. It’s so nice to be outside in the summer. I love meeting new people, I’ve spent 14 days already… down at the harbor, and now I am at the ‘Overlook’ and it’s just always a wonderful experience,” says Sullivan.

The program also enables artists to gain exposure, connect with other artists and meet consumers from around the region and world.

Sara May, a printmaker visiting the Cape from Connecticut says that her experience has been; “beautiful and wonderful, it’s nice to see artists following their heart.”

Over 95 artists will be participating in the 2018 program, with artwork that includes photography, jewelry, painting, fiber arts, ceramics, mosaics and woodworking.

Artists will change weekly to different locations between the marina and the park as the summer roles along.

Shops will be open seven days a week with hours running from 11 a.m. until at least 8 p.m. in July and August, and then from 11 a.m. through at least 6 p.m. from September, through October 8th.
