Hyannis Fire Crews Rescue Two Stranded on Breakwater

rescue fireHYANNISPORT – Hyannis Fire Department Marine Units rescued two men stranded on the Breakwater Saturday night.

According to Lt. Kevin Black, the men lost track of time and were caught when the tides came in.

The men were picked up by the departments Whaler boat and refused transport to the hospital.

“This happens every year and it’s very common at the Breakwater,” Black said.

Black said that any visitors to the Breakwater should be aware of the tides and he recommends avoiding jetties that aren’t continuous.

The lieutenant also recommends some kind of personal flotation device, including life jackets.
