Hyannis firefighters responded to a fire at Alberto’s Ristorante at 360 Main St. early Friday afternoon.

Reports from the scene indicated there was smoke in the building just before a second alarm was struck.

Owner Felice Barreiro was one of the first to realize something was wrong.

“I was coming up from the basement and I saw a cloud of smoke in the basement,” he said. Barreiro immediately called 9-1-1.

There were no reports of injury. The cause was not immediately known.

Barreiro said there was fire in between a stainless steel wall and a brick wall.

“It’s the insulation in between the two walls. We have no idea how that would even catch fire,” he said.

According to their website, Alberto’s has been in business on Main Street since 1984.
