Hyannis Harbor Hawks Name Field In Honor Of Retired CCBL President

Judy ScarafileHYANNIS – Months after retiring, former Cape Cod Baseball League President Judy Scarafile now has a field named in her honor.

The home of the Hyannis Harbor Hawks, has been renamed “The Judy Walden Scarafile Field at McKeon Park.”

The announcement was made last month at a party for Scarafile’s retirement.

“She’s been the president of the Cape Cod Baseball League during the tenure of every one of our coaches, members, volunteers, housing parents, everybody,” said Hyannis Harbor Hawks President Brad Pfeifer. “When Hyannis thinks of the Cape League, we think of Judy.”

Scarafile, who started with the league in 1970 as an official scorer, served as president of the Cape League for 24 years before retiring at the end of October.

She was featured in the “Women in Baseball” exhibit at the National Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, New York and in 2013, became the first woman inducted into the Cape League Hall of Fame.

“It’s all about teamwork,” said Scarafile. “Whether it’s teamwork on the field or off the field, and I’ve been very honored to be a part of that team.”

Over 1,200 Cape League players have participated in the major leagues and the Cape League led all 35 summer leagues with more than 200 players drafted overall in the 2014 Major League Baseball Player Draft.
