Hyannis Main Street BID Hosting Bi-Annual Shop Local Day

HYANNIS – The Hyannis Main Street Business Improvement District (BID) is holding their 12th bi-annual Shop Local Day on Saturday.

More than 30 businesses on Main Street will be offering sales, discounts and deals.

“Local stores have the best return on investment for giving back to your community,” said BID Executive Director Elizabeth Wurfbain.

Wurfbain added that if people spend money in a locally owned store, it generates up to four times more money for the local economy.

She said that is because there are more benefits to buying locally than buying online.

“People more and more do want to feel what they’re buying and feel the fabric and try it on and know that what they’re wearing looks good on them,” said Wurfbain. “When you go to these places, they will give you their advice. When you’re buying online, you don’t know what you’re getting.”
