Hyannis Main Street Navigational Kiosks to Provide Info to Cape Visitors

HYANNIS- In an effort to provide directions and historical fun facts, the Hyannis Business Improvement District is unveiling 7 new specially designed informational kiosks on Main Street next week.

“We decided to create these along with a walk where each kiosk has history tidbits on one side, a map on the other, and then the listing of local attractions,” said Elizabeth Wurfbain, Hyannis BID Executive Director.

The project was created after a $50,000 grant was presented to the BID from the Rotary Club of Hyannis.

The maps created by ‘Design by Lore’ and ‘Orion RED’ aim to present authentic stories that make Hyannis a unique home, and visitor destination.

Wurfbain said that the signs will create “a sense of place making, where you have history, what’s happening, and where you are.”

“Every year we will change out the content on these in order to showcase new business. The events will change over the course of the year. We’ll keep the historical tidbits up but we will add to them as we go along,” said Wurfbain.

A brief presentation and ribbon cutting of the new signs will be held on July 10th, at noon, in front of the JFK Museum.
