Hyannis Man Receives Heroism Award

HYANNIS – A Hyannis Man was awarded the Carnegie Hero Award by the Barnstable Police Department last week.

David Duncan was recognized after saving James M. Melia from a potential assault that took place on August 24th of 2017.

Duncan disarmed a knife wielding man who approached the officer while he was attempting to take another man into custody.

Lieutenant Mark Cabral, who was the road supervisor that evening, and Chief Mathew Sonnabend made the presentation. 18 other individuals we also given the award.
