Hyannis Open Streets Returns on Sunday

KA_Hyannis_Welcome Historic Main street sign_11315HYANNIS – After the success of their first Open Streets event on Main Street in Hyannis, organizers are planning for a second event on Sunday.

The first event, organized by the Greater Hyannis Civic Association, was held last month and drew around 7,000 people.

“It was just so exciting to be in the streets having a great time, it was just such a wonderful community event that we’re going to do it again,” said Association President Deb Krau.

All of the street’s shops and restaurants will be open and many will have deals and specials going on during the event, which runs from noon to 4 p.m.

The Hyannis Main Street Business Improvement District and the Greater Hyannis Chamber of Commerce are partnering in the event.

Krau adds that there are many benefits to having the event in the community.

“It’s also a good benefit for the merchants on Main Street who have been good citizens all year-long, so it has an awful lot of different aspects that are just great,” said Krau.
