Hyannis Village Christmas Stroll Set to Kick Off Month of December

HYANNIS – With the holiday season in full swing, area residents are once again readying for the annual Hyannis Village Christmas Stroll, which is set to kick off the month of December.

“It’s the biggest stroll on the Cape and it’s evolved into a great event that starts in the morning,” said Elizabeth Wurfbain, the Executive Director of the Hyannis Main Street Improvement District.

“It’s very iconic, perfect, cute and ‘New Englandy.’ So, it’s soup-to-nuts a perfect day.”

This year’s stroll will take place on Saturday, December 1 and kicks off at 9:00 a.m. with seating for “Breakfast with Santa” at the British Beer Company.

Another seating for this event will be held at 10:30 as well.

At noon, Santa will arrive in an antique fire truck at the big clock on the corner of Main Street and Winter Street to meet and greet children until 1:00 p.m. Santa will then head over to Katie’s Ice Cream from 1:30 p.m. until 2:30 p.m. for another meet and greet.

The most unique celebration of the day, however, is Santa’s Boat Ride immediately following the stroll.

“We have something for everyone so every age group has something. Some people come and they have lunch and do a little shopping and go see a few carolers,” Wurfbain explained.

“Some people come with their little kids and they go to everything. They do the “Breakfast With Santa,” they do the treasure hunt, they come and read the books at the J.F.K. Museum with the Rotary Club, and they ride on the little train, or have balloon twisting, or get their face painted.”

The 2018 Hyannis Village Christmas Stroll is sponsored by The Greater Hyannis Civic Association, The Greater Hyannis Chamber of Commerce, Hyannis Main Street Business Improvement District, and the Hyannis HyArts Cultural District.

This event will be held rain or shine.
