Independence House Looking for Volunteers

independence houseHYANNIS – Cape residents are needed to help members of our community find safety or be part of a family or an individual’s well-being.

Independence House is looking for volunteers to make a difference in someone’s life.

The non-profit organization provides free and confidential specialized services and widespread programs for adults, teens and children who are survivors of, or affected by domestic and sexual violence.

Independence House volunteers commit themselves to the mission of the organization by assisting those in need to find safety, healing and empowerment.

Volunteers provide hotline coverage, medical & police accompaniment at Cape Cod Hospital, Falmouth Hospital and police stations, along with providing safe-homes, child care, office assistance, and work events and raise funds.

Independence House volunteer classes take place twice annually with the next session beginning this fall.

Some volunteer positions require the completion of a 50 hour training class and all volunteers are required to submit a CORI check.

Those interested in volunteering should contact Donna Giberti at Independence House by email at [email protected] or call 508-771-6507 extension 221.
