Info Sessions on Nantucket’s Plastic Ban Scheduled

NANTUCKET – Nantucket’s Special Town Meeting approved a single-use plastics ban last year.

Now with the approval of the attorney general, the ban is planned to go into effect on June 1, 2020.

Some items subject to the ban include straws and drink stirrers, flexible can and bottle yokes, drinking cups and lids, and other single-use plastic containers.

Info sessions are planned for the next three months, with the town currently working on a Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) document for the town’s website and elsewhere.

The meetings are scheduled for July 29 at 2pm, August 13 at 8am, and September 19 at 6pm.

All three meetings will take place in the PSF Community Room on 4 Fairgrounds Road, Nantucket.
