Iran Says Washington Post Reporter Jason Rezaian Convicted

AP LogoTEHRAN, Iran (AP) — Iran’s state TV is reporting that Jason Rezaian, a jailed Washington Post reporter, has been convicted.

In a late Sunday broadcast, A judiciary spokesman said, “He has been convicted, but I don’t have the verdict’s details.”

The spokesman says Rezaian and his lawyer are eligible to appeal the conviction within 20 days.

Rezaian, the Post’s Tehran bureau chief, is accused of charges including espionage in a closed-door trial that has been widely criticized by the U.S. government and press freedom organizations. He reportedly faces up to 10 to 20 years in prison if convicted.
