HYANNIS – Work is being done to restore the portico on the Old Town Hall, now known as the JFK Hyannis Museum.
The museum is hoping to make further renovations and expansions.
Barnstable Town Manager Thomas Lynch said that with over 60,000 visitors per year, the museum is an economic development engine on Main Street that plays a key role in supporting tourism and arts and culture.
Lynch attended a meeting last Thursday evening on future development plans for the JFK Museum on Main Street.
The JFK Hyannis Museum has established strong links with the JFK Presidential Library and the soon to be opened Edward M. Kennedy Institute for the Senate.
JFK Museum Director John Allen is envisioning future interactive exhibits at the Hyannis museum and a renovation of the entire building.
