Jury Convicts Former Bourne Selectmen in Ex-Girlfriend Assault

Former Bourne Selectman Michael Blanton

FALMOUTH – Former Bourne Selectmen Michael Blanton was convicted Tuesday in Falmouth District Court in the domestic assault of his former girlfriend.

Following the two-day trial, Blanton was taken into custody and will be sentenced on Friday.

The jury convicted him of assault and battery, assault with a dangerous weapon and threatening to commit a crime.

Blanton was arrested last February on the charges, some of which were related to an incident the year before.

During the trial, the victim testified about an attack on February 25 during which she said Blanton struck her and threatened her with a bat.

Blanton denied the allegations, saying he was only defending himself that night.
