Kids Pan-Mass Challenge Set For May 20th

SANDWICH – The second annual Sandwich Pan-Mass Challenge Kids Ride is scheduled for Sunday, May 20, and registration is now open.

This years ride will be in honor of Pedal Partner Isaac Shrauger, a four year old from Centerville who is currently undergoing treatment at the Jimmy Fund Clinic at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.

Event organizer Kevin Sareault explains that this is based on the annual 100 mile Pan-Mass adult ride.  “The kids ride is a logical extension of that. It allows kids to do their part to help fund and find a cure for cancer by riding their own bikes.”

The goal of both is raising money for cancer research and treatment at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.

Sareault is confident that the success of the first race can be built upon.  “Last year we had sixty two kids raise over $20,000.  This year we’re looking to double the number of kids and our goal is $30,000,” he said.

Children between the ages of 3 and 14 can choose from several distances according to their age and abilities.

Further details and registration can be found online at www.kids.pmc.org/sandwich.aspx.  The registration fee is twenty dollars, with $30 being the minimum fundraising goal.

All participants will receive a T-shirt, water bottle, and special surprises.  Commemorative bracelets can be earned for each of the three bridges, the Sagamore, Bourne and Railroad, reached during the ride.

Volunteers and sponsorship’s are always needed. Individuals and local businesses are afforded the opportunity to be part of the riders’ goodie bags, online and social media promotion, and on-site presence.  To register as a volunteer, go to www.kids.pmc.org/sandwich/register-to-volunteer.aspx.  Donations can be made at https://donate.kids.pmc.org/sandwich/.
